(Washington, DC) - The U.S. House of Representatives today passed the Energy and Water Appropriations Bill that includes nearly $20 million requested by Congressman James E. Clyburn for projects in the Sixth Congressional District. The appropriations for Fiscal Year 2004 include:

In addition to obligating federal funds to these projects, the Energy and Water bill also provides language authorizing the Lake Marion Regional Water Agency to include sewage for its six county service area and increases the Agnecy’s authorization to $35 million.
“This is wonderful news for the residents of Calhoun, Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, Orangeburg, and Sumter County who are part of the Lake Marion Regional Water Agency,” Congressman Clyburn said. “When this project is completed, the entire region will have access to reliable potable water and sewage treatment facilities.”
The first phase of the water project is estimated to begin operations in March 2006.
