(Washington, DC) - Sixth District Congressman James E. Clyburn is pleased to announce that the Calhoun County Mental Health Association has been awarded a $342,500 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. This funding is available through the Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities program that assists nonprofit organizations with the development and operation of supportive housing to enable persons with disabilities to live as independently as possible in the community.
“I applaud Calhoun County Mental Health Association’s commitment to ensure independent living for the disabled,” Congressman Clyburn said. “Rural communities often struggle to meet the special needs of their residents, and this grant award is proof that Calhoun County is proactive in its efforts to serve its entire population.”
This award is funded under the FY 2003 HUD Appropriation Act.
