January 19  There is electricity in the air in Washington, D.C., as people are lined up all over the city to be a part of this historic Inauguration. Congressman Zach Wamp welcomed hundreds of joyous Tennesseans who endured unbelievably long lines in the cold to get in to House office buildings to attend a reception in his office and pick up their Inauguration tickets. His office overflowed with people from the Third Congressional District who took pictures and visited with Congressman Wamp and his wife Kim. Following are some thoughts Congressman Wamp shared about the Inauguration:

“While I didn’t vote for Barack Obama for President because of his policies and what his party and agenda stand for in the country, I’m still a proud American upon his Inauguration. Barack Obama is breaking barriers and represents a long journey fulfilled as an African-American elected as President. I share in the joy that this historic inauguration says to every American, regardless of social status or color, that by working hard and preparing themselves, they could become the leader of the free world. The rest of world is looking at the United States with amazement because they know that we actually walk the walk and don’t just talk the talk of equality and justice and the power of the individual when people are free. We still have a lot of tough work to do, but every boy and girl in this country can say, ‘If I dedicate myself to a cause in the land of the free and the home of the brave, I can be anything that I want to be, because we are the United States of America.’”
