December 10 - Congressman Zach Wamp welcomed today’s announcement from Alstom Power Inc. about its plans for a major investment in Chattanooga that will create hundreds of jobs that pay above the average wage for Hamilton County.
“Alstom’s investment into Chattanooga will bring good high-end manufacturing jobs for the workers in our region,” said Congressman Wamp. “The location of this investment underscores the importance of Chattanooga and the Tennessee Valley Corridor as a center for energy technologies in the nation.”
Alstom will invest $280 million in a new business unit that is expected to create 360 jobs in Chattanooga. The new business unit will be used to manufacture steam and gas turbines, generators and related equipment for use in nuclear power plants. Alstom currently employs 600 people at its existing business unit on Riverfront Parkway.
