August 27 – College students and young professionals who are interested in public service can apply for fall and winter internships in one of Congressman Zach Wamp’s offices. Full- and part-time unpaid internships in the Chattanooga, Oak Ridge and Washington, D.C., offices offer hands-on experience in learning how the government works and how a congressional office serves the community.
Interns will gain invaluable, career-building experience working in a fast-paced office environment. They will assist staff by interacting with other federal agencies, researching projects, writing reports and helping with general office duties. In the past, district interns have attended community events with Congressman Wamp and Washington interns have attended hearings and press events with the Congressman. Interns work during the regular business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates who reside in Tennessee’s Third Congressional District and are part of an educational program are given additional consideration.
Several staff members in Congressman Wamp’s office got their start as interns. Interested candidates can fill out an application on Congressman Wamp’s Web site at http://www.house.gov/wamp/internships.shtm and e-mail it to al.stewart@mail.house.gov in Chattanooga, gina.mcmahan@mail.house.gov in Oak Ridge or ehall@mail.house.gov in Washington, D.C.
