Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson confirmed today that she will lend her support to the creation of a federal Peace Department when she speaks to a Peace Alliance rally on February 5.
“If we put even half the energy into fostering peace as we do in preparing for war, we could truly make a global impact,” Congresswoman Johnson said. “I am delighted to be a part of the capstone event of The Peace Alliance’s efforts to establish a Department of Peace.”
Joining the Congresswoman at the Lisner Auditorium at George Washington University will be Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith and actor Joaquin Phoenix. Congressman Dennis Kucinich will participate as well as other members of Congress. The program begins at 7:30 pm.
