"The Eastside Clinic has given Pierce County residents access to high-quality health care for over twenty years," Smith said. "I congratulate them on their recent expansions, which will allow them to better meet the high demand for their services."

The recent expansion added three patient exam rooms, an additional doctor's office, waiting room space, and additional space for the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) nutrition program.

A combination of federal funding, state and local government, and private funding supported the expansion. Major contributors included the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, the State of Washington Health Care Authority, and the Pierce County United Way.

Smith will give a short speech at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
