District Congressman will discuss realities of next round of base closures
suggested in the Quadrennial Defense Review
Ninth District Congressman Adam Smith will host a meeting of the Military Affairs Committee of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce tomorrow morning from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Tacoma Sheraton Hotel. Smith, a member of the House National Security Committee and the Procurement and Military Installations and Facilities Subcommittees, will discuss issues of importance to the military community. Attendees include representatives from the military, government agencies, and local businesses. Smith expects much discussion about the Quadrennial Defense Review and a possible round of Base Realignment and Closures (BRAC). Other issues of relevance include construction and maintenance needs at McChord and Fort Lewis, troop readiness, Smith's committee work, and soldiers quality-of-life. |
