Washington -- U.S. Representative Barbara Cubin (R-WY) met today with Park County Commissioner Tim French and Mary Flanderka, Natural Resource Advisor in the office of Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal. Cubin released the following statement after her meeting with the two, who are visiting Capitol Hill to promote efforts to keep the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park open during winter:
“I want to thank Tim and Mary for coming to Washington to update me on the continuing efforts to keep Sylvan Pass open. The citizens of Park County continue to impress me with the well-thought and prepared position they have taken as to why Sylvan Pass and the East Entrance should remain open. Their argument goes far beyond the obvious public lands access issues. Collaboration with local governments and businesses, as well as citizen involvement and economic assessments in the management planning process, are all clearly outlined in the Park Service’s mission. As Wyoming’s citizens continue in their fight to ensure these commitments are honored, they should know I stand firmly with them.”
