Washington -- U.S. Representative Barbara Cubin (R-WY) made the following statement today after learning the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will issue its final rule to delist the Yellowstone population of grizzly bears under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) within the states of Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana:
“The State of Wyoming has been ready to manage grizzlies for a long time but this process just kept dragging on. Unfortunately, that is the rule, not the exception, under our current Endangered Species Act system. I am confident that Wyoming’s future management of the grizzly will demonstrate why current ESA mandates can be more of a hindrance than a help to sound wildlife management decisions.” |
