Washington -- U.S. Representative Barbara Cubin has released the following statement in reaction to reports that an armed gunman has killed over thirty students on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg, Virginia:

“Although the reports will continue from Blacksburg, one thing is certain: an absolutely senseless, horrific tragedy has befallen the members of the Blacksburg community and the Virginia Tech campus.  The fearsome images of today’s massacre will certainly be remembered among the most tragic days in our nation’s history.  My prayers today and in the days to follow will be for the families whose lives have been shattered on this day.”
