Amount Requested: $485,000
The funds will be used by the Highland Police Department to purchase and install emergency preemption devices on all traffic signals in the town. This technology will benefit all of the public safety agencies in Highland by reducing the response time to an incident and lowering the chance of traffic accidents at intersections between the vehicles of first responders and citizens. This project is consistent with the goals of the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Policing Services, which promotes the use of crime-fighting technology and operational strategies for the betterment of the community.
