Amount Requested: $500,000 The funds will be used by the Lake County Sheriff’s Department to begin the initial steps in the consolidation of Lake County’s 18 dispatch centers. This consolidation will require the purchase of new interoperable radios and the corresponding software system for the participating departments. This project, which was developed by the Lake County Public Safety Commission, will result in significant cost savings and a new level of government efficiency by improving the response capabilities of the county’s first responders. This project is consistent with the goals of the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Policing Services, which promotes the use of crime-fighting technology and operational strategies for the betterment of the community.
