Amount Requested: $68,000 The funds will be used by the Porter Police Department to establish a common “backbone” network consisting of dispatch 800Mhz equipment and radios that all users can use to communicate with the dispatch center and each other while allowing interoperability between other jurisdictions. The new system will be modern and reliable, and designed to grow with the department. This project is consistent with the goals of the Department of Justice’s Office of Community Policing Services, which promotes the use of crime-fighting technology and operational strategies for the betterment of the community.
