The funding will be used by the City of Lake Station to replace six sanitary lift stations. The current condition of the lift stations leads to system failures resulting in sewage overflows into Deep River, which is part of the Lake Michigan watershed. Investment in wastewater infrastructure provides significant environmental, public health, and economic benefits to the local communities and the nation.
