Rep. Pete King To FBI: Did Murdoch Reporters Try To Bribe Cop And Hack 9/11 Victims' Phones?BY Alison Gendar

Rep. Pete King, R-Long Island, today asked the FBI to investigate allegations that British journalists with Rupert Murdoch's "News of the World" tried to bribe city cops to hack the phones of 9/11 victims.
"It is disgraceful, these allegations," said King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee. At least 150 of the victims of the Sept. 11 terror attacks lived in his congressional district.
King asked FBI Robert Mueller to check out reports that journalists for Murdoch's shuttered tab tried to get an NYPD officer to help them get victims’ phone numbers.
"You think back to the days of 9/11. When people didn't know who was dead, who was alive, everyone was walking under this cloud. To think that payoffs could have been made to access the phones of the dead or missing? It is disgusting," King said.
"We have the 10th anniversary coming up. We owe it to the memory of those who were killed, and for the peace of mind of those who survived, to make sure we know what happened," King said.
King said no victims’ families had raised any suspicions so far that their loved ones’ phones had been hacked.
