Rep. Peter King chairs the House Homeland Security Committee — and he's funny, too! Past and current district attorneys Robert Morgenthau and Cyrus Vance and supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis turned out Monday to see the Republican congressman and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly speak at the Police Athletic League luncheon at the Mutual of America Offices in Midtown. The topic was serious — terrorism — but King got a nice laugh when he cracked a joke about his and Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner's token attempt to forge a more bipartisan Congress by sitting next to each other at the State of the Union address.
Addressing the PAL crowd, King apologized for his hoarse voice and said he didn't know if he had laryngitis or bronchitis. He seemed sure of one thing though: "God has been punishing me for sitting next to Anthony Weiner."
