U.S. Representative (R-Seaford)
It should come as no surprise that when the Republicans took back the majority in the House of Representatives this year, King recaptured the chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee and immediately stirred up controversy nationwide by holding hearings on the radicalization of Muslims in America. It was not the first rodeo for the 10-term congressman, amateur pugilist and elder statesman of the Long Island congressional delegation. Some may have been surprised to hear more recent news that the Nassau County GOP has publicly urged King to throw his hat in the ring for a ’12 presidential run—although that development shouldn’t shock his supporters. Whether King takes more than a wait-and-see approach, we’ll have to, well, wait and see. But no matter his next move, it surely will not be the last we see of King.
