OBAMA SPEECH/THE REACTION: Rep. King

Rep. Peter King has faced criticism for some of his comments on Muslims, including that they do not cooperate with police and his assertion that Long Island mosques are under police surveillance.

"I thought he went too far in the concept of moral equivalency and setting up this historical record that under Bush, America was anti-Muslim, and under him, we're not," King (R-Seaford) said of Obama's speech yesterday.

"The fact he's an African-American president with Muslim heritage could help us in the Middle East. He's the commander in chief, and he's entitled to try this policy and attempt to make it work, and I hope it does.

"We'll be in a better position to judge it a year from now."
