Justice Department taking applications for The Grants to Reduce Violent Crimes Against Women on Campus program


WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Department of Justice announced yesterday that it is now accepting applications for grants authorized by the Violence Against Women Act of 2000. Institutions of higher education, as defined by the Higher Education Amendments of 1998, are eligible to apply.

Both new applicants and current grantees of awards will be considered. However, Fiscal Year 2001 grantees will only be considered if they received planning grants. The award period for the grants runs 24 months. Interested parties should meet the following deadlines:

Letter of Intent deadline:   April 9, 2002
Registration deadline:April 16, 2002
Application deadline:April 30, 2002 (by 9:30 EST)
