Baca Appointed to Influential Democratic Caucus Committee
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Representative Joe Baca (D-Rialto) has been
appointed to the House Democratic Caucus’ Committee on Organization,
Study, and Review by Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Caucus. The OSR
Committee is charged with recommending changes to Caucus rules as
circumstances may require, which are then voted upon by the Caucus.
“I’m honored that Chairman Menendez decided to appoint me to help
oversee our Caucus,” Baca said. “A large part of our success as a
Caucus will depend on our ability to organize ourselves, run
efficiently, and disseminate information to our members, and I’m happy
to be a part of that process.”
As a member of the OSR Committee, Baca will serve on the Democratic
Study Group, which is a Caucus organization whose function is to study
legislative policy and institutional matters and to prepare materials
on those subjects for the use by all Democratic Members in the House
of Representatives.
When former Representative James Traficant was on trial for fraud and
racketeering, the OSR Committee recommended the changes to Caucus
rules that allowed the Caucus to exclude Traficant from voting in
Caucus meetings until his criminal trial was concluded.
