WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Marion Berry (D-AR, 1st) announced today that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a disaster declaration for Lonoke and Arkansas counties following the extreme storms that swept through the area on May 10, 2006. The storms caused significant crop damage from excessive rainfall, high winds, tornadoes, and lightening. Farmers in these counties are encouraged to apply for assistance with their local county farm service agency office.
Any individual affected by the storm may apply for low-interest FSA emergency loans to cover property damage and crop loss. You may apply for assistance at the following FSA offices:
