Bilbray Seeks Passage of SAVE Act

Rep. Heath Shuler (NC-11) and Rep. Brian Bilbray (CA-50) are proud to introduce the Secure America with Verification and Enforcement Act.  Also known as the SAVE Act, this bill has strong bi-partisan support. It focuses on securing our borders, increasing interior detection and enforcement, and limiting the ability of illegal immigrants to work in America. Bilbray: Cunningham Should Not Get Clemency

(Washington D.C.)- Congressman Brian Bilbray issued the following statement today amid media reports that imprisoned former Congressman Duke Cunningham is requesting clemency from President Bush: “By engaging in bribery, let alone one of the largest Congressional bribery scams in American history, Duke Cunningham disgraced himself and his family and betrayed his country. The Court has spoken and justice has been delivered.  I am hopeful that President Bush will not interfere with the Court’s decision and will allow for the sentence to be carried out in full. If President Bush is to grant clemency to anyone, it should be to Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who are serving time for merely attempting to apprehend a drug smuggler.” ... view more
