Congresswoman Bordallo Attends
Memorial Service for
Commander William “Willie” McCool
For Immediate Release – March 3, 2003 – Washington,
D.C. – On Saturday, Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo attended
the memorial service for Commander William “Willie”
McCool at the Brigade of the Midshipman Chapel at the U.S. Naval
Academy.
“The eulogies given by friends including his college
roommate and former superiors in the Navy and at NASA attested to
his remarkable talents as a student, athlete and aviator, but more
importantly as a husband, father, and friend,” said
Congresswoman Bordallo.
Later, Congresswoman Bordallo presented Lani McCool and the Vallejos
and McCool families with the Congressional Record on H.R. 672, a
bill to name the Guam South Elementary/Middle School in honor of
Navy Commander William C. McCool.”
“The people of Guam are very proud of our connection
with Commander McCool. We are pleased to be able to rename the school
in his memory,” said Congresswoman Bordallo. “His
hard work, dedication and accomplishments in his academic, athletic
and professional life is an excellent example for our children.”
H.R. 672 passed in the U.S. House of Representatives by unanimous
vote earlier in the week.
