$400,000 GRANT TO IMPROVE GUAM'S
CRIMINAL HISTORY AND SEX OFFENDER RECORD SYSTEM
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
September 30, 2003 – Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Bordallo
announces that the U.S. Department of Justice has granted the Guam
Criminal Justice Automation Commission a $400 thousand grant to
enhance the quality, completeness, and accessibility of its criminal
history and sex offender record system. This is part of the National
Criminal History Improvement Program's efforts to improve the Nation's
public safety by improving its criminal record keeping systems.
The funds will be used to update and upgrade Guam's criminal records
systems in compliance with nationals standards and protocols.
"This grant money will improve Guam's access to national criminal
records systems and will increase the reliability and effectiveness
of Guam's own criminal records, enhancing the public safety of both
Guam and the Nation as a whole," said Congresswoman Bordallo.
"I would like to commend the Guam Criminal Justice Automation
Commission and Judge Alberto Lamorena for doing the legwork to ensure
Guam was included in this national program."
