Bordallo Encourages Veterans
to Return Survey Despite Unforeseen Mail Delays

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 25, 2003 – Washington, D.C. –  Congresswoman Bordallo will move forward with her testimony to the Department of Veterans Affairs Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services (CARES) Commission in Palo Alto, California this Wednesday despite unforeseen mail delays that have slowed the arrival of her Veterans Health Questionnaire to Guam mailboxes. Although the mailer will arrive too late for most veterans to respond in time, Bordallo will be advancing concerns veterans on Guam have raised during town hall and village meetings held during the last few months. It is important, however, that Guam veterans and military retirees still participate in the health survey.

"I am requesting that Guam veterans and military retirees return the Veterans Health Questionnaire despite the mail delay," Bordallo said. "This survey is very important for making the case with the VA that the numbers of Guam veterans and military retirees has been underestimated in the past."

The Health Survey seeks to determine the number of Guam veterans accessing VA health care and their level of satisfaction with services provided in order to improve accessibility and the quality of care provided.

Veterans and retirees may print the survey online or visit the District Office to submit the survey before October 1st.
