Bordallo
to Visit Guam Troops in Iraq
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 16, 2003 – Washington, D.C.
– After addressing Congress yesterday in support of the Iraq
supplemental, Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo is set to leave to
visit the troops in Iraq tomorrow. Bordallo will be joining her
colleagues in the House Armed Services Committee on a Congressional
Delegation to see first hand the state of affairs in Iraq.
"I am going to Iraq because I am
deeply concerned for the welfare of our troops. In Iraq, I will
be meeting with our servicemen and women and asking them about their
morale and safety and what Congress can do to help. So many of us
have friends and family serving in the military, and I will be sure
to let them know that the thoughts and prayers of the people of
Guam are with them. I will also let them know that I am working
hard to enable them to come home to Guam during their R and R,"
Bordallo said.
Bordallo is working with a bipartisan coalition
in support of H.Res. 387, which seeks to ensure the troops in Iraq
are able to return to their home of record during rest and recuperation
instead of being stranded in one of four U.S. cities.
