Federal
Government to Grant Leave to
Active Duty Reservists Returning to Civilian Service
FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE – December 3, 2003 – Washington, D.C.
– Federal executive departments and agencies will begin granting
five days of uncharged leave from civilian duties to Federal employees
returning from active duty service. This measure will help ease
the return of military reservists to their civilian Federal jobs.
All Federal employees who were activated for military service in
connection with Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Enduring Freedom,
and Operation Iraqi Freedom are eligible.
“The sacrifices our National Guardsmen
and women and Reservists have made in serving our country are something
to be admired. Granting returning reservists five days of leave
is the right thing to do as they require some time to readjust to
civilian and family life. I hope that members of the private sector
will follow the Federal government’s lead in supporting active duty
reservists as they transition back into the civilian workforce,”
Bordallo said.
