Bond Bank Bill To Receive Hearing

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—May 11, 2007Washington, D.C

The House Committee on Natural Resources Subcommittee on Insular Affairs will hold a hearing to receive testimony on H.R. 1075, the “United States Territories Infrastructure Bond Bank Authorization Act,” on Thursday, May 24, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. (EDT) in Washington, D.C.

H.R. 1075 was introduced by Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo and Congresswoman Donna Christensen of the Virgin Islands to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to establish a United States Territories Infrastructure Bond Bank to extend federally-guaranteed financing to the territories for infrastructure improvements.

“A bond bank would give GovGuam access to lower financing rates and the capital needed to make critical upgrades to our power, water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure,” Congresswoman Bordallo said.
