Soldier from Barrigada is Latest Casualty  

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—May 5, 2007Washington, D.C

Upon learning of the tragic death of Private First Class John D. Flores of Barrigada, Congresswoman Bordallo issued the following statement.

“I am deeply saddened to learn that our island has lost another son in Operation Iraqi Freedom. In this time of sorrow, I join our people in offering condolences and prayers to PFC John Flores’ family, loved ones and friends.

“PFC John Flores was a fine soldier with a young family who served our nation with selfless dedication.  He answered the call to duty of our nation and he paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom – we owe him a debt of gratitude.  We honor his service and we pray for his family. We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Charlene, his daughter Chloe, and his extended family and friends.”

According to the Department of the Army, 21-year-old PFC Flores died on May 3, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq as a result to injuries sustained during combat operations. PFC Flores was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
