Vice President Cheney to Visit Troops Stationed in Guam
Bordallo to Urge the Vice President to Include Guam Leaders in Stopover

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—January 30 , 2007Washington, D.C. –

The office of Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo has just confirmed with the White House that Vice President Richard B. Cheney will visit Guam briefly as part of his tour of Japan and Australia in next month. The Vice President is scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Australian Prime Minister John Howard, and visit military personnel stationed in Guam the week of February 19, 2007.

“My office has been in contact with the White House, and we are awaiting more details of the Vice President’s visit to Guam,” Congresswoman Bordallo said. “I will be urging the Vice President to include Guam’s civilian leadership in his visit, however brief it may be.”

According to the White House, Vice President Cheney will discuss issues of mutual interest, including Asian security and the Global War on Terror, with the prime ministers.
