Lucy Montinola Alcorn Honored at U.S. Small Business Administration Ceremony
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—April 24, 2007–Hagåtña, Guam–
Local business owner Lucy Montinola Alcorn was honored today as part of the 2007 “Small Business Week” events held annually by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Today’s ceremony is one of four held this week to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit and accomplishments of individuals and business owners across the country. More than 100 small business owners were honored during today’s ceremony, which was attended by Congressman Madeleine Z. Bordallo, Alcorn’s husband, David, and close friends and family.
Alcorn is the President and CEO of Global Food Services, LLC, which supports the management and operations of the Navy Family and Bachelor Housing Program, Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs, and provides food services to the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) School Lunch Program.
In March, Alcorn was named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2007 “Small Business Person of the Year” for Guam.
“Lucy is a smart, effective businesswoman who continues to play a big role in rebuilding Guam’s economy,” Congresswoman Bordallo said. “Her dedication to our island and her contributions to Guam’s business community serve as an inspiration to both women and business owners alike.”
