Health and Human Services Awards Two Chamorro Language Grants to Guam
$189,418 to Guam Community College;
$97,339 to Pa’a Taotao Tano’
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 15, 2009 – Washington, D.C. –
Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that the Administration for Native Americans under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded two Chamorro language grants to Guam. The Guam Community College (GCC) was notified today of $189,418 in available financial assistance for their Go’ti Yan Adahi I Fino’ta Chamorro Project. Also today, the Pa’a Taotao Tano’ group was notified of $97,399 in available funds for their Chamorro Language Assessment Survey (CLAS) Project. The funding for both projects will last through September 2010.
“The financial assistance received today from the Department of Health and Human Services will preserve and protect the Chamorro language on Guam,” Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo said today. “I congratulate the Guam Community College and Pa’a Taotao Tano’ on being awarded these discretionary funds.”
