Régine Biscoe Lee Receives national Award as a Filipina of Distinction

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 13, 2009 – Hagåtña, Guam–

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that her Policy Advisor, Régine Biscoe Lee, has been selected by the Filipina Women’s Network (FWN) as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the U.S.: Building and Emerging Leaders award category.  The 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the U.S. Award was created to honor Filipina women across the United States who have accomplished outstanding work in their respective fields and who are recognized for leadership and achievements in the workplace and communities.

Before joining the Congresswoman’s staff, Ms. Lee was a Senior Associate at NVG, LLC., a political consulting firm in Washington, D.C.  Ms. Lee ensured the firm’s implementation of legislative and communications strategies and supported policy development, advocacy and strategic planning efforts for clients and affiliates. In particular, she focused on building successful strategies for clients, including the United Farm Workers of America, the National Alliance for Filipino Veterans Equity, and Green for All. 

In addition, Ms. Lee contributed to Asian & Pacific Islander outreach efforts for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and volunteered expertise for various other campaigns, including Webb for Senate, Warner for Senate and Obama for America.

Prior to her work at NVG, Ms. Lee worked in the State Relations Division of the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization in Alexandria, Virginia.  While attending college, Ms. Lee served as a Congressional Summer Intern for Congresswoman Bordallo in 2003 and served as a mentor and community leader through her involvement in the University of Washington’s Pacific Islander Student Commission, the Micronesian Islands Club and various other student and community organizations.  Ms. Lee received the Brotman Diversity Award for her work with the University’s Pacific Islander Partnerships in Education (PIPE) Program.

Régine Biscoe Lee is a graduate of the Academy of Our Lady of Guam.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Bachelor of Arts in American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington in Seattle. She served as a founding board member for KAYA-DC and the Asian American Action (AAA) Fund – YP, political empowerment organizations.  She and her husband, Andrew Lee reside in Ipan, Talofofo with their daughter, Mia Isabella.
