Guam Awarded $4,353,553 in Grant Funding for Housing Assistance Programs

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 14, 2009 – Washington, D.C. –

Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo today announced that the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded the Government of Guam $4,353,553 in financial assistance through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) and HOME Investment Partnership grant awards. 

The financial assistance awarded today through the CDBG, ESG and HOME programs will go towards providing housing for low and moderate income individuals and families.  The funding will also support initiatives aimed at reducing the homeless population on Guam. 

“The financial assistance awarded today from the Department of Housing and Urban Development will assist the Government of Guam address and improve the housing needs of our island’s low and moderate income individuals and families,” Congresswoman Madeleine Z. Bordallo said today. “The funds from the Emergency Shelter Grant will also provide crucial support to our island’s most vulnerable population, the homeless.”
