STATEMENT FROM CONGRESSMAN ALLEN BOYD ON IRAQ
WASHINGTON, DC: "Currently, our military stands ready to cross the borders into Iraq and wage war. As someone who has seen war first hand, and as a father of three young adults, it was my hope that we could have resolved this conflict and disarmed Saddam Hussein without war. However, this is not the case.
"Our troops have a tremendous responsibility before them. Throughout the Persian Gulf War we had military and financial support from the great powers of the world. This greatly contributed to the successful outcome in 1991. It is unfortunate that now, without the alliance of the great powers, the United States and Great Britain will wage this war alone.
"Our nation also has a tremendous responsibility to undertake. Once this war begins, we must all pull together and speak with one voice. We must give our men and women in uniform the resources they need to end the war quickly, and do all we can to return them to their families safely." |
