WRONG ADDRESSES KEEP TEXANS FROM GETTING THEIR MONEY BACK
Nearly 40,000 Stimulus and I.R.S. Refund Checks Returned to I.R.S. Because of Faulty Texas Mailing Addresses

Washington, D.C. - Nearly 40,000 stimulus checks have been returned to the IRS because of incorrect addresses. The IRS has stated that affected taxpayers need to contact them so they can resend the checks.

“Families are counting on these checks, so it is vital that the federal government do all that it can to deliver them,” said Brady. “I encourage those who have yet to receive their payments, especially Hurricane Ike victims who may have been forced to relocate, to check with the IRS immediately.”

Nationally, more than 279,000 economic stimulus checks totaling about $163 million and more than 104,000 regular refund checks totaling about $103 million were returned to the IRS by the postal service.

The IRS is asking everyone who has yet to receive a stimulus check to go the “Where's My Stimulus Payment?” tool on www.irs.gov for instructions. Also, they can call into 866-234-2942. For tax refund checks, individuals can check their status on the phone and also get instructions on how to update your address by calling 800-829-1954 for the telephone version of "Where's My Refund?"

Texans still waiting for their IRS checks can also visit Congressman Brady’s website for direct information on collecting their stimulus and refund checks: http://www.house.gov/brady
