November 13, 2006

Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi has appointed Congressman Mike Capuano to head the transition as Democrats prepare for a majority role in the 110th Congress. "I am deeply honored that Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the future Speaker of the House of Representatives, has entrusted me with this responsibility and I will work tirelessly to ensure an organized, seamless transition," stated Congressman Mike Capuano, who will work with the Leader's office on a host of issues, from establishing the Democrats' agenda to logistical matters. Congressman Capuano also chairs the Democratic Caucus's Committee on Organization, Study and Review, overseeing a comprehensive review of the internal rules of the Democratic Caucus. The announcement from Leader Pelosi's office appears below:

Washington, D.C. - House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi announced today the appointment of Congressman Michael Capuano of Massachusetts as the head of the day-to-day transition for House Democrats.

"Mike Capuano is an expert in the rules and procedures of both the Democratic Caucus and the House. His knowledge, experience, and leadership will be invaluable during the Democratic transition into the majority," said House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi. "I look forward to working with him in the coming weeks as Democrats prepare to restore civility, integrity, and bipartisanship to the House of Representatives."

As the Chair of the Committee on Organization, Study and Review, which analyzes the rules of the House Democratic Caucus and recommends changes, Capuano is well prepared to handle Democrats' transition to the majority.
