Congressman Mike Capuano Named to Committee on House Administration
February 8, 2007
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has appointed Congressman Mike Capuano to the Committee on House Administration.
The Committee is responsible for overseeing the federal election process, general administration of the House of Representatives and works with the Capitol Police to oversee security on the House side of the Capitol complex. The management of the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian Institution are also under the jurisdiction of the Committee on House Administration. The full Democratic Caucus approved the appointment this morning.
"Serving on this Committee will give me an opportunity to have more direct involvement in the daily administration of the House of Representatives. I am also looking forward to learning more about oversight of federal elections and Capitol security matters," stated Congressman Capuano.
Congressman Capuano is also a member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure and the House Committee on Financial Services. He is Chair of the Democratic Caucus' Committee on Organization, Study and Review which is charged with interpreting and updating the rules of the Democratic Caucus. In November, Speaker Pelosi appointed Congressman Capuano to head the transition as Democrats prepared to become the majority in Congress. Last week, he was named Chair of the Special Task Force on Ethics Enforcement. Congressman Capuano is currently serving his fifth term.
