Torch Run Comes to the Capitol
The 26th Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Comes to the Capitol
Hundreds of people from federal, military, and metropolitan law enforcement agencies gathered on the West Terrace of the US Capitol for the Opening Ceremonies of this year’s Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics DC.
In September, Congress unanimously passed a resolution authorizing the use of Capitol Grounds for the 26th Annual District of Columbia Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run.
For the past 25 years, law enforcement agencies have hosted this event demonstrating their loyalty and commitment to the athletes of Special Olympics DC. Beautiful weather greeted the participants on Friday, September 30. After the torch lighting they ran and walked a 2-mile course to Ft. McNair.
