2004 National Political Nominating Conventions

The governing committees of the congressional media galleries will again allocate workspace and credentials for the Democratic National Convention in Boston, MA, July 26 – 29; and the Republican National Convention in New York Aug. 30 – Sept. 2, 2004.

Information and application forms on this site are for DAILY NEWSPAPERS, WIRE SERVICES AND OTHER DAILY PUBLICATIONS. Radio and television organizations, magazines, and weekly and monthly publications and photographers must apply to the governing committees of their respective galleries. Appropriate web addresses for the galleries are listed at the bottom of this page.

THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR CREDENTIALS AND PRESS STAND SEATS IS MAY 28, 2004.

To apply for credentials, you must submit a request to the Standing Committee of Correspondents by filling out an application form electronically. If you have not been credentialed for the conventions before, a cover letter on the letterhead of your organization may be requested.

Credentials are assigned to you on the condition that they are used by full-time correspondents of your organization. No stringers, freelancers, interns, students or family members will be credentialed. Only adults will be permitted on the press stands. You may be required to show an I.D. from your news organization to enter the stands.

Broadcasters are credentialed separately and must apply to the Executive Committee of the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Galleries through the Radio-Television Gallery.

Periodicals are credentialed separately and must apply to the Executive Committee of Periodical Correspondents through the Periodical Gallery.

All Photographers are credentialed separately, and must apply to the Standing Committee of Press Photographers through the Press Photographers’ Gallery.
