We try to provide an educational opportunity, in either our District
or Washington D.C. office, for many Georgia 9th District students.
Although internships are learning experiences, applicants should have
mastered basic skills in telephone etiquette, computers, and know
basic principals of American government. This fundamental foundation
is necessary for an intern to perform satisfactorily and to reap maximum
benefits from the experience.
Students wishing to work during the school year may apply by sending
a cover letter, resume, writing sample, application,
and two letters of recommendation to Intern Coordinator, P.O. Box 1015
Gainesville, Georgia 30503 (Phn: 770-535-2592 Fax:
770-535-2765). Preference is given to Ninth District Georgia residents.
Spring applicants should apply no later than October 1, Summer applicants
should apply by February 1, and Fall applicants should apply no later
than May 1.
If internships are available, interviews will be arranged in either
our Washington office or through one of the district offices, upon
receipt of your completed application. Following the interview process,
interns selected will be notified of the dates that they are to report
to Congressman Deals Washington, D.C. office.
Congressional offices are prohibited from making arrangements or recommendations
for specific housing locations, however, the Intern Coordinator will
provide each selected intern with an informational packet about housing
in the Washington, D.C., area. A living stipend is available.
