Visitors are not permitted to bring into the Capitol the following items:

• Aerosol and Non-Aerosol sprays
• Cans and Bottles
• Food an Beverages
• Oversized suitcases
• Duffle bags and oversized backpacks
• Knives of any length
• Razors and box cutters
• Mace and pepper spray

The Capitol Police are authorized to make exceptions if a prohibited item is determined to be necessary and required to serve child care, medical or other special needs.  To expedite security screening, offices should encourage visitors to leave backpacks behind before their visit to the Capitol.
