108th Congress

The Charles Hervey Townshend Breakwater Bill, H.R. 1445   Back to Legislation

H.R. 1445 would name the western breakwater in the New Haven Harbor the "Charles Hervey Townshend Breakwater".  Charles Hervey Townshend dedicated his life to the maritime industry and enhancing New Haven Harbor. His commitment to the success of New Haven as a port city led to many improvements to the harbor, including the construction of the breakwaters, a century ago. It is only fitting that his name be attached to them.

This legislation is supported by the City of New Haven and the New Haven Colony Historical Society. In addition, all five Members of the Connecticut Congressional delegation in the House of Representatives are co-sponsors.
