Important Information regarding the Economic Stimulus Package

Beginning in May, the Treasury will begin sending economic stimulus payments to more than 130 million individuals. The vast majority of Americans who qualify will not have to do anything other than file their 2007 income tax return in order to qualify. However, there have been a number of questions and concerns directed towards our office regarding the Economic Stimulus Package. My office has gathered a number of resources to better help you understand who will be eligible, and how the process will work.

The Internal Revenue Service recently release a number of Fact Sheets regarding the Economic Stimulus Package.

• Facts about the 2008 Stimulus Payments - summary of the economic stimulus package, including eligibility, limitations, additional payments for parents, special circumstances for Social Security recipients. and more.
• Low-Income Workers, Recipients of Social Security, and Certain Veterans' Benefits - Details on how the economic stimulus package would apply to each of the above groups, and any exceptions that apply to them.
