As a representative for a state with an international border, Congressman Dingell has worked closely with his colleagues to provide more funding for the latest innovations in border security. Congressman Dingell has also fought for more Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agents, and for enhanced screening procedures that would allow Michigan residents and Canadians to continue to enjoy the openness of our border and neighboring communities.

Residents of the 15th District should know that Congressman Dingell’s office is open for any questions, guidance, or help with passport issues. The United States government will soon require that all travelers returning to the United States have a current U.S. passport.

Starting January 31, 2008, all adult travelers will be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, and proof of identity, such as a driver's license, when entering the United States through land and sea ports of entry. Oral declarations of citizenship alone will no longer be accepted. U.S. and Canadian citizens ages 19 and older will need to present a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, along with proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization certificate.
