Environmental Scorecards

  • The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) gave Chairman Dingell a perfect score of 100 out of 100 in its 2008 National Environmental Scorecard, the only Michigan Representative to receive the honor.
  • The Congressman scored a 100 on the LCV Environmental Scorecard for 2006, had a combined score of 93 for the two years of the 109th Congress and received a score of 95 out of 100 in 2004.
  • The Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund gave Dingell a 96 out of a possible 100 for supporting such issues as halting arctic refuge drilling, upholding endangered species protections, and defending forests against salvage logging on its annual Conservation Report Card evaluating the 109th Congress.

    • Award of American Scenic and Historic Preservation Society for outstanding contribution in the field of conservation and preservation of our American Heritage
    • Award for National Distinguished Service in Conservation presented by National Wildlife Federation for outstanding contributions to the wise use and management of the Nation’s Natural Resources
    • Member on the Board of Sponsors of the Rachel Carson Trust for the Living Environment

    • Award from Oyster Institute of North America for Leadership and Devotion to Preserving and Restoring the Lakes, Rivers, and Estuaries of the Nation

    • Award by the Engineering News-Record commending his efforts in leading the fight for full funding of the Clean Water Restoration Act
    • Award from United Auto Workers for his life long fight for his fellow man in the fields of anti-pollution and conservation

    • Distinguished Service Award given for work on Conservation by Women’ s International League for Peace and Freedom

    • North American Waterfowl Management Committee’s International Canvasback award for outstanding leadership in wetlands protection and waterfowl conservation.
