Doyle's Bill to Create Steel Heritage National Historic Site Approved
by Congressional Committee
Thursday, September 12, 2002 - Washington,
D.C. - U.S. Representative Mike Doyle (PA-18) announced today
that his legislation, which would create a national historic site
on the land of the former U.S. Steel Homestead Works plant in
Homestead, passed the House Resources Committee today and is expected
to be scheduled for House floor action before the Congress adjourns
for the year.

School Arts Competition
Tuesday, May 14, 2002 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - U.S. Representative
Mike Doyle (PA-18) awarded Brenda Anderson from Springdale High
School with the first prize in the 2002 Congressional High School
Arts Competition at the 18th Congressional District of Pennsylvania's
Arts Forum - "An Artistic Discovery."

March 15, 2002 - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - U.S. Representative
Mike Doyle (PA-18) presented Phipps Conservatory and Botanical
Gardens with a check for $200,000 in federal funding for its expansion
and redevelopment project. Rep. Doyle secured this funding as
part of the Fiscal Year 2002 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) budget.

Friday, March 22, 2002 - McKeesport, Pennsylvania
- U.S. Representative Mike Doyle (PA-18) presented the McKeesport
Little Theater with a check in the amount of $20,000 in federal
funds to be used for the theater's renovations. Rep. Doyle
secured this funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2002 U.S. Department
of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) budget.

Tuesday, September 10, 2002 - Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative
Mike Doyle (PA-18) helped to bring much-needed attention to the
issue of steel legacy costs during a hearing held today by the House
Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade
and Consumer Protection, of which Rep. Doyle is a member. The hearing,
at which Rep. Doyle served as ranking member, focused on the Steel
Industry Legacy Relief Act, H.R. 4646.

Mike Doyle (PA-18), co-chairman and founder of the congressional
autism caucus, Coalition for Autism Research and Education (C.A.R.E.),
has introduced legislation that will for the first time ever, dedicate
federal funds to better train teachers who work with students with
autism.
