Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson this morning praised the increase in the federal minimum wage, which today rose from $5.85 to $6.55 an hour. In May 2007, the Democratic-led Congress passed legislation that is raising the federal minimum wage from $5.15 an hour, where it was frozen for a decade, to $7.25 an hour, in three steps and over two years. Congresswoman Johnson was a co-sponsor of the legislation.
