Defense and Homeland Security

The men and women of the United States Military dedicate their lives to defending the freedoms we hold dear. All of us either have a family member or a friend in the military, and have a vested interest in our military succeeding. The Constitution directs Congress to fund the U.S. Military and that is a task I take very seriously. Without proper funding, we are placing our fighting men and women in harm’s way without proper protection. During my time in Congress, I have worked hard to support our troops by ensuring they have all the tools they need to do their job. In addition, I have advocated for increases in pay and benefits for our servicemen and women who continue to protect Americans from foreign threats.

In the 21st Century, the United States has had to deal with the increased threat of terrorism. The U.S. Military has adapted to fight this elusive enemy and our soldiers, sailors, marines, and airmen have preserved and accomplished a great deal in the Middle East. As we continue with the international fight against terrorism and radical jihadists, it is vital the U.S. Military maintains the ability to adapt to circumstances on the battlefield. That can only be accomplished if Congress provides full level of support to our troops.
